Zlatan Ibrahimovic talks about how Sweden miss him

first_imgFormer Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed he can ‘play better than this Sweden team’ after their opening two World Cup games.Former Sweden captain Ibrahimovic retired from national team duties in 2016 and he believes that his country greatly misses his influence. He spoke to reporters: “In the beginning, the first games was different because I felt I can do it much better than them, obviously. And still, I feel that,”“But there is a time when you say let them do it and let them enjoy because where I came from, I was not welcome. I was different. I came from a different background.”Victor Lindelof, SwedenEuro 2020 qualifiers round up from group F George Patchias – September 6, 2019 Euro 2020 qualifying Group F saw Scandinavian neighbours Sweden and Norway keep the race for the groups second automatic qualifying spot alive.Spain had already…“And I went through all those things and I became the captain on my national team. Sherwood calls for introduction of feeder clubs

first_imgFormer Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has called for the introduction of feeder clubs in the lower leagues for Premier League teams to help young players develop in a first-team environment. The former England captain who spent time as a youth coach with Spurs before becoming manager believes too many young players miss out on the experience of first-team football because leading clubs stockpile players to safeguard their expensive investments. The feeder club is seen across many European leagues – the most notable being Barcelona B who play in the second tier of Spanish football but cannot be promoted.Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, Manchester UnitedVidic: “Ronaldo is the most professional footballer I’ve seen” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Nemanja Vidic opened up on how a 21-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo’s professionalism left him stunned at Manchester United.Sherwood, who is credited with the development of Harry Kane at Tottenham, thinks a radical change to the league system which would see clubs part-own teams in the lower leagues would help young English players develop.“Why other countries bring their young players through so well is because they have feeder clubs,” he told The Debate on Sky Sports.“People don’t want to hear this but to accelerate the development of young English players we need to have feeder clubs in League One and League Two. There is enough clubs out there who are willing enough to do it for their clubs, who are dying a slow death and haemorrhaging money. Clubs will be willing to open their arms out to Premier League teams and say ‘you can use this club for your young player’ but the FA has to allow it to happen.”last_img read more

Riqui Puig has a dream debut for FC Barcelona

first_imgBarcelona product Riqui Puig, was the main attraction in his club’s Copa del Rey 4-1 victory against Cultural Leonesa. He gave a spectacular assist. With pretty much all the bigger names eagerly watching from the stands, academy product Riqui Puig presented himself to the world in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey second leg against Cultural Leonesa. The tiny Catalan midfielder is arguably one of the biggest sensations the club has to offer from La Masia alongside Carles Aleña, this Wednesday was his official first match with Barcelona’s major squad as Ernesto Valverde gave him a good half an hour to show his talents to the world.Puig’s impact was quick, he set Denis Suarez up for the club’s fourth goal of the night with an out of this world assist that made us all long for the days when Iniesta or Xavi played for the club. The kid is the spitting image (playing style-wise) of both of these players, it seems like the club has found two amazing new talents who can help the club move forward and continue the tradition of that beloved tiki-taka style that could even convince Guardiola to return someday. His ball control, vision, and position on the field are a sign that he will be important for the club in the upcoming years.Gol de Denis Suarez y asistencia de Riqui Puig 4-1 pic.twitter.com/lyUtByNOEc— Pol Muñoz (@PolMb10) December 5, 2018Puig was the absolute sensation after the match due to his beautiful assist, but other players also shined against Cultural Leonesa.Denis Suarez scored a couple of great goals, Munir opened the score sheet during the first half, and Malcom also contributed with a header but he left the field with a nasty sprained ankle that worried everybody at the Camp Nou.Carles Aleña also played a fairly decent full match, he complemented very well with Oriol Busquets but mostly with Puig and Sergio Busquets when both players were inside the pitch.During the final thirty minutes of the game, we could see a very fluent FC Barcelona that left everybody happy at the Camp Nou.“It’s a debut I dreamed about,” said Puig through the FC Barcelona official website right after the final whistle.”A win and an assist on top of how well the team played. I used to come to the Camp Nou when I was three years old, imagining what it would be like to play here.”David Villa, FC BarcelonaTop 10 players who played for both Barcelona and Valencia Boro Tanchev – September 14, 2019 Time to talk about the best players who represented both Barcelona and Valencia, prior to their La Liga encounter at Camp Nou this evening.”Ernesto has given me the opportunity and the reality is a dream come true,” he added.Riqui Puig tras su debut en partido oficial: “Al principio me sudaban las manos y me dolía la barriga. Tenía la sensación de estar en el FIFA”. @ellarguero #CopadelRey pic.twitter.com/zsoyk4gyWw— Adrià Albets (@AdriaAlbets) December 5, 2018Even the manager approved of Riqui’s dream debut for FC Barcelona, as he explained that he thinks we have a very complete player under our noses who looks like he could do great things in La Liga. The most important thing to remember about Riqui, is that we are talking about a player who is one of the fiercest FC Barcelona fans you will ever come across. There are many stories about Catalan players from La Masia who were linked to the club since they were little kids, Riqui’s story is no different as he has been close to Barça since he was practically born and he fulfilled a childhood dream with this Wednesday’s performance. Also, Puig was initially rejected by the club due to his short height and small body composition but the club decided to ultimately keep him because they remembered how well they have done with short guys in the club. You will do well to remember his name, because Riqui Puig is one of the most sparkling appearances that FC Barcelona has experienced in quite a long time and he came here to stay.Riqui Puig, todo clase. Si jugase en el Ajax ya valdría 80M !!! pic.twitter.com/rkyzOSle68— Barçavip (@jordi2039) December 3, 2018What do you think about Riqui Puig’s assist to Denis Suarez against Cultural Leonesa? first_imga Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp#Bahamas, November 13, 2017 – Nassau – Minister of Health the Hon. Dr. Duane Sands said being fully cognizant of the value of Nurses, and the essentials of having a strong, viable complement of nurses and nursing professionals, The Bahamas Government has a vested interest in the sustainability of the Nursing workforce and the advancement of the Nursing profession.“Therefore, The Bahamas Government is presently placing as a major priority, focus on areas of career paths, salaries and improved working conditions as a means to retain and increase the employ of trained nurses,” Dr. Sands said during the Nurses’ Association of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas (NACB) 40th Annual Educational Conference held at the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, Grosvenor Close Campus, November 9, 2017.He also noted that focus is being given to the training and education of nurses, for increased scholarship opportunities and stipends for nursing students, support for specialised post-basic nursing programmes and advanced training of nurses.“With the mobilisation of these initiatives brought forward by my Ministry, I can say with confidence, this Government is committed to offering its support [of] these initiatives which will optimistically retain our Nurses and buoyantly enhance the recruitment process.“Doing so will also provide the necessary support to nurses bringing about a greater awareness and recognition of the value of Nurses in our society.”Dr. Sands said during his term in office, he will seek to further the Government’s commitment to advancing the Repeal of the Nurses and Midwives Act, which will allow for nurses to practice to the fullest extent of their education, training and expertise, thus strengthening the country’s ability to provide improved access to high quality, easily affordable, modernised health care services for the people of The Bahamas. The Health Minister said that he wished to publicly applaud the innovativeness of the NACB for having a sustained annual educational forum, which is geared towards achieving its mission – “to promote the highest standard of nursing practice, encourage professional and educational advancement for nurses, and to ensure that all people irrespective of their nationality, race, colour or social origin may have optimal nursing care.”He said, “Many will agree that Nurses are indeed ‘Champions for Health’ as they play a vital role in the delivery of quality health care service to the citizens and residents of The Bahamas.“As a physician, I can personally attest to the quality of Nurses here in The Bahamas and rank them as ‘Champions’ as they are some of the best in the region.”He said this proven fact is evident as the nation’s neighbours in the North are aggressively recruiting Bahamian Nurses as a result of their qualifications, high level of expertise and world-recognised competence, which stems directly from the vigorous, but excellent training programme at the School of Nursing and Allied Professions. The Health Minister also noted that The Bahamas can boast of being on a steady trek to health care excellence having achieved many gains in the delivery of quality health care over the past 40 years most of which came as a result of the work and leadership of Nurses.“Most recently, Nurses to their credit, played an intricate role with the implementations of the Direct Observation Treatment Shot Course (DOTS) Programme, the mother-to-child transmission of Human immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and the Expanded Immunisation Programme.”He added, “Nurses also provided much-needed guidance in the development of other maternal and child health programs that are ongoing in a number of our public health institutions.   The success of each of these programmes is definitely attributed to the contributions of Nurses.”By: Llonella Gilbert (BIS)Photo Captions:Header: The Minister of Health Dr. the Hon. Woman pleads guilty to hiding missing teen

first_imgA woman pleaded guilty Monday to hiding a missing 16-year-old girl at her Vancouver home for 15 days during a high-profile search by law enforcement.Lori M. Kingrey, 48, of Vancouver is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9 in Clark County District Court for one count of harboring of a minor, a gross misdemeanor. She faces up to 364 days’ confinement and a fine of $5,000.Judge Sonya Langsdorf ordered a presentence investigation, which she will use when determining a sentence.A local media blitz surrounded the search effort for Isabella Castillo, who ran away from home on March 25.Isabella was in a relationship with Kingrey’s 17-year-old son, Robert L. Rogers, at the time. Rogers arranged for Isabella to stay with him at his mother’s house in the 900 block of West 17th Street, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court.Kingrey allowed Isabella to stay at the home because she was concerned about the girl’s welfare, her defense attorney, Meaghan McCredie, said Monday. Kingrey was unaware of the “media storm” surrounding the search for the girl because she doesn’t watch the news, McCredie said. Kingrey also has mental health problems and was taking her medications inconsistently, which “impaired her judgment.”Court records indicate Kingrey and her son repeatedly misled law enforcement when officers inquired whether they knew of Isabella’s whereabouts. After a March 28 visit to Kingrey’s home, Vancouver police Officer David Brown wrote in the affidavit that “neither Robby, nor his mother, disclosed that she (Isabella) was inside the house, knowing that she was listed as a runaway and that law enforcement was looking for her.”last_img read more

Update Missing Arizona teen found dead in Oregon

first_imgPORTLAND — The body of an Arizona teenager missing since last week was found Monday evening near the spot where his SUV was abandoned in a wooded area, a southern Oregon sheriff’s office said. The body of 18-year-old Johnathan Croom was discovered about 1,000 feet from his vehicle, Douglas County sheriff’s spokesman Dwes Hutson said in a statement. The death was being investigated as a suicide.Hutson didn’t immediately return a call for additional comment. The teen had talked with his parents about the book “Into the Wild” and told a friend he wanted to run away.Croom’s SUV was found Wednesday in Riddle, a town of 1,200 people just off the state’s main north-south thoroughfare, Interstate 5.His mother has said he was traveling alone and on his way back from Seattle, where he visited a friend. Croom was due in Arizona on Aug. 17 to start college in Mesa.Hutson had said that text messages between Croom and a friend indicated Croom wanted to run away.Croom also talked to his parents about Christopher McCandless, whose journey to Alaska was documented in the book “Into the Wild.” McCandless gave up his worldly goods to live in the Alaska wilderness, only to die there, perhaps from eating wild potatoes.“I think we have kind of a combination there,” Hutson said earlier Monday. “He talked with his parents about `Into the Wild,’ and in text messages we’ve looked at, he does specifically talk about running away, kind of just running away from his life.”last_img

Volunteer to succeed longtime leader at St Vincent de Paul

first_imgSt. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) was a French Catholic priest dedicated to serving the poor. He was captured by pirates and sold into slavery for a time, but became free again and started various charitable endeavors for galley slaves and the poor. He is considered the patron saint of charitable societies, and the charitable society in his name was started by students in Paris in 1833.Learn more about the international organization and the Vancouver conference at St. Vincent de Paul. For Gary Wright, leading the Vancouver conference of St. Vincent de Paul is all about personal connections. He realized that when his simple urge to do somebody some good by putting in grunt work — making bread pickups and unpacking boxes, he figured — had him visiting with desperate people, hearing their stories, offering counseling and comfort as well as emergency food and cash.“It’s life-changing,” said Wright, 60, whose rise through the ranks of volunteers will be complete on Jan. 1, when he takes over from Dick Lauer as executive director of Clark County’s largest individual food pantry. According to its most recent fiscal year statement, the Vancouver conference of St. Vincent de Paul, an international Catholic lay organization, gave out nearly $2.5 million in food, clothing, housewares, Christmas gifts — and grants of emergency cash for rent, utilities, transportation and more — between October 2012 and September 2013. Its warehouse at 2456 N.E. Stapleton Road is open five days a week, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Life-changing how? It’s all about serving needy people without hesitation or judgment.“We don’t ask a lot of questions. We are looking at the need,” said Wright. “It’s an adjustment for me and my heart. A lot of people pass through those doors with a lot of needs.”Some of them are planning and striving for better. Some are doing the best they can, but they’re simply stuck — because of everything from disabilities to an economy that still isn’t generating many new jobs. And some haven’t a clue about anything beyond hand-to-mouth survival — and never will, thanks to disadvantages such as mental illness and hard-core addiction.last_img read more

Aruze setting its sights on Europe

first_img VIP, slots growth at Tigre de Cristal sees Summit Ascent profits soar in 1H19 RelatedPosts Aristocrat wins battle over intellectual property rights with US$3 million settlement Japanese gaming machine manufacturer Aruze Gaming is targeting sizeable growth in Europe in 2019 as it looks to shrug off past perceptions that its products were too attuned to the Asian market.Coming off a year in which Aruze Europe enjoyed record revenue, the company’s Director of Business Development in Europe, David Meacher, told Inside Asian Gaming at ICE London on Thursday that customers were showing increasing interest in its newly developed product range – headed by the Muso Triple-27 cabinet released in 2018. Ainsworth launches review of product development after Asia-Pacific struggles see FY19 decline Load More “People have often had a thing in their mind about Aruze but we’re seeing that people are quite surprised when they come and look at our product range,” Meacher said. “They have traditionally seen Aruze with the much bigger cabinets, very glittery, very, very bright cabinets. These are bright but more European and sleek in their design concepts compared to some of the older stuff we’ve done.”Having been granted a license to operate and supply gaming machines in Cyprus in 2018 as well as approval to operate as a gaming related contractor in Greece, Meacher said the company was actively looking to increase its European footprint.“Europe has always been a fairly small market for us but now we’re putting a lot of effort into it, we’re growing it and we’re seeing the performance figures coming back,” he explained. “As people see the performance and the word gets out there that our games are competing, that we’re not just that small niche market player we were in the past, it’s really going to build. Last year was a record year for Europe so we hope to build on that this year.”Among the new games set to be released into the market is “Fu Lai Cai Lai” – a progressive link already proving popular in Southeast Asia that Aruze has high hopes will translate well to Europe.“Our Asian-themed games are doing well,” Meacher said. “We’ve got some strong, high volatility Australian-themed games which generally work well in Europe so we’re bringing a lot of those games to the European market, but we will be bringing out more multi-game and European-specific games too.“I expect in the second half of this year we should have some very focused European games in the market.”last_img read more
