Wellington tied Andale at halftime 12-all, before the Indians pulled away in the second half. The freshman-sophomore team is now 1-2.â€”â€”â€”WHS girls tennisWellington traveled to the Wichita Collegiate Tournament of Champions.â€œIt was a long day,â€ said Brian Aufdengarten, Wellington girls tennis coach. â€œWe got there at 7 a.m. and MeKenna Adams and Kylie Aufdengarten got off their last match about 8:30 p.m. Everyone else started but didnâ€™t get to finish with rain moving in. If you werenâ€™t in the top 16 then you were done.â€There were 36 singles players and 36 doubles teams.Abby Lowe lost her first match to Cadman from Independent 8-4, before beating Conway and Ford from Parsons. She finished 2-1 before the rain canceled the rest of her matches.Lexi Saffell lost to Watson from Goddard Eisenhower 8-3, before losing to Parrish from Blue Valley Northwest. She was up on Carlson from McPherson 4-1 before the rain came and she was unable to finish her match.Madison Lewellen and Jacelyn Buck lost to Blue Valley 8-3 and lost a closer match to Andover 8-5.MeKenna Adams and Kylie Aufdengarten won their first match 8-2 over McPherson. They then lost to Hesston who loaded up their doubles team with their No. 1 singles player and half their team that finished second at state last year.â€œWe got waxed, they were very good, best team weâ€™ve played this year,â€ Aufdengarten said.The pair then lost to Kapaun 8-5.
