Betty Baxter will represent District 1 and Margaret Ross will represent District 3. The two will bring the number of female council members to three and “They’ll know we are here,” Ross said.“Women have a different perspective on things. We are passionate about things that we believe in,” Ross said. “We’ll bring that passion to the city council and we’ll dedicate ourselves to getting things done that will improve our town and give people more of a sense of pride in living and working here.” Email the author Plans underway for historic Pike County celebration Print Article “What I would like to see us do initially is complete some of the projects that have been on the drawing board for a while,” she said. “We need to move ahead with the park remediation. Brundidge should have a park that can be used by people of all ages, especially our senior citizens. And, we need to put sidewalks on Graham Boulevard. People walk along that street and, without sidewalks, that’s dangerous.”Baxter and Ross said that they are eager to get busy working for the people of Brundidge. Their goal is to help make Brundidge all that its citizens want it to be and all that it can be. Brundidge has been her home for nearly 40 years.She taught school in Brundidge and Ozark for a combined 30 years and works part time at First National Bank in Brundidge.Ross believes that she can make a difference on the council. Baxter and Ross are both longtime residents of Brundidge.Baxter moved to Brundidge from Clio 32 years ago to work at Fruit of the Loom. She found Brundidge to be more than a place to work. Brundidge was the place she wanted to call home and the place she wanted to raise her children. Now, she wants to serve District 1 and the Brundidge community as a member of the city council.“I want to work closely with the people, not just those in District 1, but all the people,” Baxter said. “I want to bring the concerns of the people to the council. We need a clothing store in Brundidge and a grocery store.
