OPD: Man charged after throwing coffee at wife, infant

first_img Twitter Previous articleDAILY OIL PRICE: Feb. 27Next articleOPD searching for Target thieves admin Rick Lewis Police charged a man Thursday after he reportedly threw hot coffee in his wife’s face, also landing around the car seat and headrest where their 9-month old son was sitting.Officers were first called about a domestic disturbance around 8:44 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of East Monahans Street, according to an Odessa Police Department news release.Officers made contact with a 29-year-old woman and her husband, 26-year-old Rick Lewis, the release stated. Lewis reportedly became angry during an argument the two were having in their vehicle and threw hot coffee in his wife’s face, and also attempted to hit her with a phone but she blocked it.Their 9-month-old son had been sitting in the backseat of their vehicle during the incident, the release detailed, and coffee had landed on and around the car seat and headrest where the child was sitting.Lewis was charged with endangering a child, a state jail felony, and assault family violence, a class C misdemeanor.Jail records show Lewis was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Friday and was released the same day on a $15,000 bond.The next day, OPD Spokesman Steve LeSueur said an officer saw Lewis talking to his wife, a violation of the protective order that had been placed against him following the assault charge, and Lewis was charged with violation of a protective order, a class A misdemeanor.Jail records show Lewis was taken to jail again Saturday and was released Sunday on a $1,500 bond.
