Kolkata: A flank of the Baghajatin flyover on EM Bypass will remain closed from August 13 to 15, with the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) undertaking repair work of the bridge. A chunk of concrete underneath the bridge had caved in on Friday night.According to KMDA sources, the flank through which vehicles move towards the direction of Patuli will be closed, while the other part will see vehicular movement in both the directions. Kolkata Police has also agreed to the proposal of KMDA to keep the Aurobindo Setu at Gouribari area closed from August 22 to 24 for carrying out load capacity test. This bridge connects Ultadanga with the Khanna junction. The police are working on the traffic diversion plan and a notification in connection with this will be brought out soon. Also Read – Lightning kills 8, injures 16 in stateMeanwhile, KMDA has proposed to the Howrah City Police to keep Bankim Setu shut for vehicular movement from August 23 to 25, to undertake load capacity test of the bridge which is situated over the railway tracks near Howrah station. A meeting will be held with all stakeholders on Tuesday to decide whether it will be feasible to close the bridge as per KMDA’s proposal. The nod of the Railways is also required for carrying out test on Bankim Setu. The initial test conducted by KMDA has revealed that the bridge is not in the best of conditions.
